Jerry E. Jones, 78, died at 12:49 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, in his Beaver Dam Lake home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hartford City, IN, on October 14, 1937, to George Edward and Gladys Faye (Roach) Jones, both who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Eugene Jones, and sister, Judith Ellen Sprayue.

Jerry married Karen Rose Pinkerton on September 9, 1955. They were the parents of three daughters, Theresa Rose Leffler, Monique Kaye Jones, and Michele Dawn (Pook) Jones. He is also survived by one grandson, Max (Elizabeth) Leffler.

Jerry was a graduate of Marion High School. He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, and Camp Bussac, France, where he served for four years. After his military discharge, he began his financial career at Interstate Finance in south Marion. From there, he served as the Treasurer-Manager of the V.A. Hospital Credit Union. He then joined First National Bank in 1967 and remained with the bank for 36 years, through mergers with Bank One and Salin Bank, retiring in June 2003. In 2004, he was employed as the Chief Financial Officer for Ambulatory Care Solutions/VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics until December 31, 2013, when the company was sold. He then joined a good friend and formed the AK Dale LLC/Subway LaFontaine and assisted in opening a new store where he served as Chief Financial Officer.

He and Karen enjoyed their home on Beaver Dam Lake, where he resided. He also enjoyed the company of his faithful Yorkie companions, Cheri and Pepe, until their passing.

He was very involved during his career with many civic and social organizations in Marion, Grant County, and Warsaw.

His past service included: United Way, Director and Public Relations Chairman; Big Brothers, Director and Treasurer; Grant County Bankers Association, President and Treasurer; Grant County Credit Union Association, President and Treasurer; Samaritan Masonic Lodge, Member and Audit Committee Chairman; Mizmur Shrine Clowns, President and Treasurer; Past President of the Marion Underwater Team, a SCUBA underwater recovery team; a NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) SCUBA Diving instructor; YMCA, Membership Committee; Red Cross, Director and Treasurer; Mecca Club, Treasurer; Aero Club, Director; Marion Jaycees, past President, Secretary, and Treasurer; Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board and Treasurer; Economic Growth Council, Director and Treasurer; Mizmur Shrine Club, President, Treasurer, and Club Manager; Community Foundation, Director, Treasurer, Finance Committee; Indiana Bankers Association, Chairman State Real Estate Loan Committee; Indiana Wesleyan University, Citizens Advisory Committee; Johnson for Prosecutor, Treasurer; Marion Housing Authority, Chairman of Commissioners and Director; Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge, Secretary-Treasurer for 27 years; Affordable Housing Association, Director; Grant County Home Builders, Secretary-Treasurer for 25 years, and Vice President; Grant County Contractors Association, Chairman Scholarship Committee and Treasurer; Member of Marion Area Board of Realtors; Marion Redevelopment Commission, Loan Committee Member; Member of First National Bank and Bank One Board of Directors (1986-2003); Member of Meshingomesia Country Club; Kosciusko County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee Member; and Former Board Member of Marion Civic Theatre.

His current service included: Aero Club Member; Junior Chamber International Senator #12306; Samaritan Masonic Lodge, Member and Finance Committee; Yorkrite Masonic Bodies, Member; Scottishrite Masonic Bodies, Member; Mizmur Shrine Club, Director; Royal Order of Jesters, Member; Mizpah Shrine Temple, Member; Marion Coin Club, Member; B.P.O.E. #2120, Rochester, Member; Treasurer, Marion High School Class of 1955 Reunion Committee; American Legion Post #368, Life Member; The National Rifle Association, Life Member; Honorary Life Member of Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge #10; Licensed Real Estate Broker; employed as Chief Financial Officer of AK Dale LLC/Subway LaFontaine; attended Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, Akron, IN, and served as a Financial Committee Member until April 10, 2016.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Services for Jerry will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
