Jeannette B. Maus Cole, 87, Denver, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru, Indiana.

Born July 17, 1928, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Frank C. “Red” and Hazel Baber Butzin.

On August 22, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Peru, Indiana, she was married to Byron Eugene Maus, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2000, after a twenty-three-year illness.  She was then married to Francis E. Cole on March 5, 2005, at the Denver Baptist Church, and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2009.

Jeannette graduated from Peru High School in 1946.  She became employed by a Peru attorney, Russell Keith, until her marriage to Byron.  Later, she worked for Wabash Valley Bank before moving to Logansport where she retired from Rockwell International after seventeen years.  She was a member of the Denver Baptist Church and the Mexico Town and Country Home-Ec Club

She is survived by three children, Philip Maus and wife Kay, South Carolina; Sue Smith and companion Bill Hardy, Logansport; and Linda Galloway and husband Terry, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Sommer Craig and husband Rick, Indianapolis; Damon Smith and wife Kristin, Indianapolis; and Kristy and Alissa Galloway, South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Anthony Pontius and wife Kym, New York; and Vincent Pontius and wife Michele, Wisconsin; four great grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Carol Butzin and Helen Butzin, both of Peru; and several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Otto “Abe” Butzin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Tim Earle and Chaplain Virgil Barker officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Denver Baptist Church Deacon’s Fund.
