Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Burial will be in Burnt Church Cemetery in Sylvania, Alabama at a later date.
Jannie was born on June 27, 1932 in Huntsville, Alabama, the daughter of John A. and Ora (Boyd) Gilbreath. She attended high school and married Marvin G. Johnson in August of 1958; he precedes her in death. Jannie worked in the kitchen at B&K drive-in restaurant in Huntington for over 25 years. She was a member of Eagles Lodge #823 in Huntington, where she served as Past-president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was also a member of American Legion Post #85 in Huntington. She loved spending time with her grandkids, and she was known as “mom” and “grandma” to many.
Survivors include a daughter – Kimberly M. Lee of Huntington; three sons – James (Imojean) Johnson, Robert “Ponytail” (Kristie) Johnson, and Thomas (Sheila) Johnson, all of Huntington; three brothers – Gordon (Doris) Gilbreath of Huntsville, Alabama, Charles Gilbreath of Chatanooga, Tennessee, and Glen (Debbie) Gilbreath of Hazel Green, Alabama; three sisters – Betty (Cecil) Nichols of LaFayette, Georgia, Opal (Billy Joe) Walker of Henager, Alabama, and Dorothy Gribbles of LaFayette, Georgia; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Donald Roy Johnson, and a great granddaughter, Jestina Kelly.
