Janet M. Uecker, 80, of Franklin, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Homeview Nursing Home in Franklin, IN.
Janet M. Uecker was born April 15, 1937, in Evanston, IL, to Lester and Dorothy (Laughlin) Laegeler. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Uecker married Thomas J. Uecker on June 10, 1961, in Highland Park, IL. Mr. Uecker preceded her in death on September 13, 1996.
Mrs. Uecker was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, IN. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University and her Masters Degree in Education from Purdue University in February, 1960. She taught mathematics at LaPorte, IN Jr. High School from 1960 – 1962 then went to William A. Wirt Jr. and Sr. High School in Gary, IN from 1965-1968.
Surviving is one son, Scott (Lee Ann) Uecker, Franklin, IN; one sister, Judy Kistler-Gibson, Danville, PA; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Marissa Uecker, Franklin, IN.
Calling hours will be Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 50 East Tipton St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Lyle Ewing officiating.
Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, 8326 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Thomas J. Uecker Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Huntington County Community Foundation in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
