James T. “Jim” Alford

James T. “Jim” Alford, 87 of rural Markle passed away early Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence. Jim worked for over 40 years at the Kresge / Kmart Distribution Ctr. in Fort Wayne retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving overseas in a Tank Division in Germany at the end of WWII. Jim was a member of the Markle Church of Christ and he loved to go to Florida and camping with his wife as a part of their Camping Club. He also enjoyed raccoon hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Jim was born on February 9, 1929 in Murfreesboro, Ark., a son of Walter and Susie (Hutchington) Alford.

He was united in marriage to Frances Allison on June 4, 1949 in Murfreesboro. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include – two sons: Dan (Deb) Alford of Wawasee and Don Alford of Markle; a daughter: Kay (Kurt) Ullman of Carmel, IN. Three sisters: Maye Genelle Blair of Huntington, Erma Lee Pequignot of Columbia City and Beryl Jean Gray of Bluffton. Seven granddaughters and One grandson; Seven great grandsons and One great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by Three brothers: J.W. Alford, Eldon Alford and Kenneth Alford; One sister Helen White.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle, IN.

A Memorial service will also be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, with Aaron McClary and Mike Duggan officiating.

Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers Memorial donations can be made out to the Markle Church of Christ and sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
