James “Root Beer” Barlow McKinney, 50, Marion, died at 2:52 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Marion Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Center. He was born in Marion, Indiana to the late Barlow and Betty (Ketring) McKinney.

James was a 1986 graduate of Marion High School. He road his bike every day, liked to go for walks, and never met a stranger. James could always be found hanging out with friends, meeting new people, and flirting with the “pretty girls.” He was a very happy person, and loved his family and everybody loved him. James was often described as a gentle soul. He loved animals and some of his favorite things were Peanut Butter, Root Beer, Pizza, and Elvis.

Survivors include his siblings, Dewayne McKinney and Kelley (Danny) Warner; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Lee McKinney.

In accordance with the family’s wishes there will be no services.

Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.
