James “Jim” William Davis, 95, Muncie, passed away at 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Waters Edge Village, Muncie. He was born in Jennings County on November 30, 1920, to James A. Garfield and Lydia (Loy) Davis. Jim married Anna Catherine “Betty” (Carter) Davis on May 24, 1941, and she passed away on April 12, 2016.

Jim was proud of being a farmer as the family grew up on their farm near Fairmount. He also worked at Paranite Wire Company in Marion and Owens-Illinois glass plant in Gas City.

Jim enjoyed golf, gardening, and lunch at MCL with friends. “Senior” (as he came to be known) was never shy about sharing his opinions on life and politics. He was also generous in sharing his support for family and friends, as well as the wonderful vegetables from his garden.

He will be sadly missed by sons, Jim (wife, Jill) Davis and Dave “Doc” (wife, Linda) Davis; grandchildren, Joe (wife, Theresa) Davis, Sherri (husband, Neil) Greer, James Davis, Ashley (husband, Curt) Howard, and Chris Hahn; and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Margery Shrontz, Sarah Teague, Irma Malloy, Dorothy Hickey, Laveda Pickett, and Phyllis Barber; and brother, Dave Davis.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Services will begin at 12 p.m. with Rev. Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
