James “Jim” L. Neal, 73, Marion, went to be with the Lord in his home at 8:27 a.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017. He was born in Barbersville, West Virginia, to the late George and Ruth (Kirk) Neal. Jim married Asenath J. Hull on July 23, 1966, and she survives.

Jim received a technical degree in skilled trades and used this degree in his career at General Motors. Throughout his life, it was very evident what was important to Jim and that was his love for the Lord and for his family. He was a wonderful man, husband, and father who was very faithful and devoted to both, and he would do anything for anyone. Jim was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church for 47 years.

Some of Jim’s favorite hobbies and pastimes were watching NASCAR, fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers play, and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and playing games with his grandkids.

His life will be forever remembered by his wife of 50 years, Asenath; children, LaSonda (Darin) Sylte, Gas City, Shelli (Neil) Pence, Gas City, and Jim K. (Shelly) Neal, Gas City; grandchildren, Emma Neal, Valerie Neal, Chloe Pence, Ivy Neal, Micah Sylte, and Cayden Pence; sister, Patricia Neal, Indianapolis; brother, Don (Marilyn) Neal, Brown County; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his dog, Buddy.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City. Additional visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

Services to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Hillside Wesleyan Church, 2510 S. Home Ave., Marion. Pastor Gary Bingham will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
