James F. Aguilar

James F. Aguilar, 75, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Marion General Hospital. James was born on April 27, 1942 to the late Luis and Mary (Alter) Aguilar in Marion, Indiana. He graduated from Bennett High School in 1960. He worked for Arby’s in Gas City and Marion, worked as a service writer at McNamara’s Texaco, DeVoe’s, (which later became Barry Bunker Chevrolet), Mike Anderson Gas City, and worked at Roessler’s Jewelry. James attended St. Paul Catholic Church in Marion, Indiana. James loved country music, especially Johnny Cash. He was the first Hispanic inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and had a band called Tor-Kay’s. He enjoyed writing songs and playing the guitar and singing.

James is survived by five siblings, Frank (Mary) Aguilar, Marion, Steve (Judy) Aguilar, Fishers, Anita (Larry) McCrea, Marion, Bill (Vicki) Aguilar, Warsaw, and Rick (Leigh) Aguilar, Marion; and sister-in-law, Sally Aguilar, Converse. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother C. Tom Aguilar.

A visitation has been set for Friday, December 8, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services College Park Chapel, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana 46953. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 W. Kem Rd., Marion, Indiana 46952, with Father Wiesenberger officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Estates of Serenity.
