James Albert Hysmith, 88, of Peru, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 16, 2017.

James was born on November 1, 1928 in Wewahitchka, Florida to Edward & Permilla Hysmith.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by daughters Jamie Norris (Byron), and Debra Kain (Tim); grandchildren Stephanie Leach (Mikel), Andrew, Kevin, Janae Lyttle (Jeff), Alicia Pitts (Travis), and Rachel Osterland (Greg); great-grandchildren Keegan Baity, Sam Leach, Marissa, Lyttle, Sarah, Tristan, Brodie, and Austin Pitts, and Lucas Osterland.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country with honor in the US Army Corps of Engineers.

James was a Motion Picture Projectionist for 38 years, working in Florida, Georgia, and California.

He was a member of the Peru Grace Brethren Church, and is now home with Jesus.

James was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.  He enjoyed photography, fishing, music, and spending time with family and loved ones.  He will be remembered for his loving and sweet spirit, his work ethic, and his sense of humor.

The family would like to thank The Legacy at Waterford Place, Kokomo, and Via Quest Hospice for their loving care during his final days.

Calling hours will be at 2:30pm and the memorial service will be at 3:30pm on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Peru Grace Brethren Church, 430 South Broadway, Peru, Indiana.  Services will be officiated by Pastor Dave Jodry.
