Jack Walter Slajs

Jack Walter Slajs was listening to the Psalms being read to him at home when he left his earthly life and entered his heavenly home on Saturday, January 30, 2016 with his loving wife at his side.

Jack was born in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Marie Slajs on August 5, 1933. He grew up in Riverside, California. On October 3, 1952 Jack married Earline Dildine. He joined the Air Force on March 5, 1955. Jack loved serving our country. While serving in the Air Force, he and Earline lived in several states, such as California, Oregon, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and Indiana. They also lived in Japan. While in Japan, they were blessed to adopt their son, Anthony. When Jack retired from the Air Force on April 1, 1975, he and Earline settled in Indiana.

When in South America, Jack learned from the Lord what He wanted him to do with his life. A bus was driving by where he was sitting and the bus had, “Revival Time” on the side. Jack knew then that he was to be a servant of the Lord, wherever he went.

While in Peru, Indiana, Jack and Earline were founding members of the Independent Christian Fellowship Church. Then, they became members of the Mexico Baptist Church, where Jack served a Deacon. Jack was known as the church’s hugging greeter.

His hobbies included wood working. Jack made a lot of the wood work inside he and Earline’s home. He enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. Studying the word of God was one of Jack’s most favorite past times, as well as singing with Earline, when she sat down to play the piano.

He was loving, and was very happy when he was working with people. One of the happiest times in his life was when he was overseas and helping people. He loved being around people.

Jack is survived by his lovely wife, Earline. They were married 63 years. He is also survived by their son, Anthony of San Francisco, California.
