Jack M. Hart, 84, formerly of Peru, passed away at 3:05 PM, Friday, July 8, 2016 at Tipton Place, Huntington, IN. He was born in Champaign, IL on December 25, 1931 the son of Jess M. and Estella Davis Hart. Jack married Margaret (Maggie) Edmond at the Parkview United Methodist Church in Peru on March 10, 1978 and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2010. Upon graduation from the Purdue University School of Agriculture in 1954, Jack was commissioned to 2nd LT in the United States Army and spent the next two years on active duty. He returned to civilian life in 1956 but remained active in the US Army Reserves retiring as a LTC in 1981. Jack was employed as an Executive Extension Agent with the Cooperative Extension Service of Purdue University from 1956 till his retirement in 1995. He is survived by a daughter Catherine (Cathy) Conrad of Lafayette, IN a son John Hart of Sugar Hill, GA, step-sons Daniel Bowman and his wife Nikole of Old Fort, TN, Richard Dean Bowman and his wife Gail of Lesgue City, TX, James Edwin Goodrich of Haleah Gardens, FL, and a step-daughter Susan Diane Floyd and her husband David of Pinellas Park, FL. Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maggie and a step-daughter Kathy Scott. A service celebrating the life of Jack M. Hart will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN with Rev. J. Robert Clark officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, IN with Military Graveside Services provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
