ISP Release Name of Police-Involved Shooting Victim

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana State Police officials on Friday afternoon released the name of the person killed Wednesday afternoon in a police-involved shooting in rural Wabash County.

The man was identified as Travis D. Tucker, 29, Kokomo.

According to the ISP news release, officers from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a citizen’s tip reporting the location of an alleged Huntington County burglary suspect. That tip led officers to Wabash County Road 400 North near Wabash County Road 500 East.

When deputies arrived, they located Tucker inside a pickup truck that was in a field. Preliminary evidence indicates that Tucker was armed with a shotgun. At some point, there was an incident that led to three officers from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and one officer from the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department allegedly firing gunshots at Tucker. Despite life saving measures by responding paramedics, Tucker succumbed to injuries from gunshot wounds.
