Irma J. Atkinson, 94, of Peru, IN passed away at 2:35 PM, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She was born in Logansport, IN on June 11, 1921 the daughter of Mark and Nell Albin Mullin. Irma married Joseph L. Atkinson on May 13, 1941 and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2006. Irma was a 1939 graduate of Peru High School. She was employed by the Peru Trust Company from 1962-1969 and was a secretary at the Indiana State Police Post from 1970 until her retirement in 1986. Irma was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the Altar and Rosary Society, Miami County Democratic Women and was a Red Cross Volunteer worker. She is survived by a son John Atkinson and his wife Sandra of Summerville, SC, daughters Nancy Anderson and her husband Bill of Peru, IN, Barbara Stoneburner of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mary Ann Cordill and her husband David of North Manchester, IN, and Linda Lester and her husband Robert of Peru, IN. Grandchildren Johnny Atkinson, Randy Atkinson, Billy Anderson, Katie Stoneburner, Megan Stoneburner, Julius Von Uhl, Nathan Von Uhl, Douglas Von Uhl, Caroline Lerum, Luke Walker and Lisa Vinopal; great-grandchildren Sophia Atkinson, Sydney, Avery & Mia Atkinson, Evan Von Uhl, Brayden Wilson, Maddie Von Uhl, Macy Von Uhl, Mackenzie Von Uhl, Vincent Von Uhl, Benjamin Lerum, Michael Lerum and a great-great grandchild Ava Von Uhl. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe and two sisters Patty Balsbaugh and Beulah Loe. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Irma Atkinson will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the St. Charles Catholic Church Guerin Center, 80 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00-7:00 PM, Monday March 21, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN. There will be prayer service Monday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Catholic Church Restoration Fund.
