Inez Irene (Rene) Hiner

On Monday, May 9, 2016 Rene Hiner, 86 of Bunker Hill, Indiana went peacefully home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born in Salem, Indiana March 30, 1930 to Talmadge and Lottie Agnes (Roney) Hattabaugh. She married Guy T. (Bud) Hiner and Howard Webber, who both preceded her in death. She has lived and worked on the same farm for the last 60 years.

Rene loved life, loved to laugh, and enjoyed people. As a young woman, she was always working various jobs. She went to beauty school, sold real estate, and eventually went to work for General Motors and retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo, Indiana.

Rene always was wanting to learn new things and took several classes. She had a lot of different interests and hobbies. She was a Ham radio operator, an avid knitter, and loved riding and owning horses.  She lovingly cared for the various animals that she had over the years.  She also loved traveling – and most of all, she loved playing her music on her dobro, guitar and lap steel. She so enjoyed doing this with her family and having them all together at her farm. She was a member of Local 292 Union, the VFW and she was a Masonic Morning Star.

Rene is survived by her brothers Talmadge “Joe”, Edgar Lee (Ellen) and Larry Richard (Dani) Hattabaugh. She is also survived by her loving family of several nieces and nephews and her extended family, including Bill, Bernice and Michael Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Helen Hattabaugh, Margie Elrod, Ruth Fleenor, Myra L. (Lucy) LeJeune, Shirley H. Hicks and brother William “Bill” Hattabaugh.

There will be visitation for Rene’s family and friends on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Allen Funeral Home in Bunker Hill.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Nathan Harmon officiating.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
