INDIANA – Indiana Department of Transportation officials urge motorists to plan for traffic congestion expected to occur before and after the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st. Many will be on the road to get a closer view. If skies are clear, this eclipse will be the first that has been visible to all 48 contiguous states in several hundred years. The total eclipse’s 70-mile-wide path will arc across 14 states from Oregon to South Carolina, and the partial eclipse can be well seen throughout Indiana. This mid-day event waxes and wanes over a period of several hours starting at 12:57PM, and peaking at 2:24PM. INDOT recommends wearing proper eclipse safety glasses if you plan to view this phenomenon.
