Howard D. Conley

Howard D. Conley, age 70 of Peru, In., passed away peacefully at his home on October 31, 2017.

He was born at home in Logan, West Virginia on April 5, 1947 to Ada Kathleen (Willingham) and Albert Conley. He married Rita (Holden) Conley on June 2, 1969 and they recently celebrated 48 years together. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired in 1988. He also retired from Auto Zone in 1999.

Howard is survived by his wife, Rita (Holden) Conley, his two children, Anita Click (Bryan Click), of Denver, In; and James Conley of Peru, In.; two brothers, Chester Conley of Peru, In, Albert (Judy) Conley, Jr. of Logan, W. Va., three sisters, Edith (Willie) Fry of Harts Creek, W.Va., Norma (Ray) Thacker of Belfrey, KY., and Rosemary (Gene) Wiley of Lincoln County, W.Va. Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Allen Ray Conley.

He was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He also loved his dogs very much. He enjoyed hunting, Chicago Cubs baseball and restoring his 1967 Chevelle Super Sport. He also loved fishing, which he did a lot of on his yearly camping trip in Tennessee with many family members.

Visitation will be held from 2pm to 7pm on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 4pm with Pastor Dave Jodry and Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana with military services provided by the Miami County Rites Team.
