Henry Tilmon Young, 83, Marion, died at 8:12 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Colonial Oaks Healthcare Center, Marion. He was born in Byrdstown, TN, to the late Charlie and Sarah E. (Garrett) Young. On November 28, 1968, Henry married Reba Joyce Lowhorn, and she survives.

Henry was a graduate of Marion High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He held memberships with the Masonic Lodge and New Hope Baptist Church, and he worked at RCA for 29 ½ years until his retirement.

Henry loved playing Checkers, especially at the V.A., where he faithfully volunteered serving coffee and cookies. He was actively involved with the Men’s Bible Study breakfast every Tuesday at Arby’s. Most of all, Henry loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, as well as walking on the Walkway.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, survivors include his daughter, Beverly Young, Jonesboro; son, Eric (Lauren) Young, Gas City; grandchildren, Dillon Young, Lynnzey Young, and Elijah Young; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Nina Mae Young and Theda Winningham.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his siblings, Lattadean Mullins, Lillian Young, Gladys Sells, and Fred Young.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Services to celebrate Henry’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
