Helen M. Donald

Helen M. Donald, 83, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion.  She was born in Union, Mississippi, on May 23, 1934, to Abraham and Lunnie (Patrick) Brooks.

Helen attended Pine Ridge High School in Decatur, Mississippi.  She worked in the kitchen at Little Italy and then at National China before finishing her career at and retiring from Thomson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA), where she worked in the slurry room.  Helen was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she served on the usher Board.  She had previously attended Calvary Baptist.

Helen was a great cook and enjoyed baking for her family and her church family.  She was very fashionable and always enjoyed dressing up and going shopping.  Helen also loved to play Bingo and was a huge Pacers and Colts fan.

She is survived by her children, Ruby D. (Ernest) Simpson, Indianapolis, and Barbara “Polly” Donald, Marion; daughter-in-law, Karsondras Donald; grandchildren, Todd Simpson, Brandon (Elizabeth) Simpson, Kendrick (Elainie) Donald, and Tyler Newton Donald; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Johnny Charles (Joyce) Brooks.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Jeffrey L. Donald; daughter, Kimberly Donald; siblings, Willette Morrow, Delilah Brown, Christine Shields, and Horace Brooks; and former spouse, James L. Donald, whom she married in 1950.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Helen’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.  Rev. Stanford Bolden will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
