Hazel M. Sieberns, age 99, of Huntington, died at 10:35 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at her home.

Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Elder Phil Nigh officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County.

Preferred memorials are to Wabash Primitive Baptist Church, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Hazel was born on November 19, 1917 in Tuscola County, Michigan, the daughter of Pearl H. and Maggie A. (Lesh) Hite. As a child, she won Champion in 4-H several times with calves with the help of her brother. In high school, she excelled in bookkeeping and during her senior year, she worked in the office at Union High School, graduating in 1935. Also during high school, she met her future husband Edwin Herman Sieberns, and they married on February 24, 1940 in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death on February 20, 2011 after 70 years of marriage. She and her husband cherished their years of farming on their family’s Huntington County farm, and they were very proud of both children they raised. She loved to crochet and quilt, as well as gardening and tending to her flowers, and traveling. Hazel was a lifetime member of Wabash Primitive Baptist Church, her favorite Bible lesson to live by was “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

She is survived by her son, Tommy (Patricia) Sieberns of Huntington, three grandchildren – Marty (Vicki) Sieberns and Monte (Jackie) Sieberns, both of Huntington and Angie (Rustie) Sunday of Warren, nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Phyllis McFarren, her brother, Mark Lesh, and her sister, Ruth Brubaker.
