Harold Mark Slaughter, 91, Sweetser, died at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, at the Marion VA. He was born in Miami County, Indiana, to the late Herman and Jessie (Louderback) Slaughter. He married Norma Jean Rennaker on December 25, 1943, and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2010.

Harold was a United States Army veteran. He farmed for a few years and then opened his own hardware store in Sweetser. Harold also owned All Seasons Lawn in Marion. He was a member of the Sweetser Lions Club and attended Sweetser United Methodist Church. Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brother-in-law when he was younger.

Survivors include his children, Tim (Linda) Slaughter, Marion, and Randy (Sandy) Slaughter, Bloomington; grandchildren, Kenny (Kellee) Slaughter, Swayzee, Matt (Tammy) Slaughter, Marion, Jon (Leigh Ann) Slaughter, Greentown, Clay (Tara) Slaughter, Bloomington, and Tawny (Kyle) Slaughter-Sterwerf, Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Nick (Josie) Slaughter, Mitch (Kelsy) Slaughter, Brooke (Eric) Shorten, Thomas (Brittany) Slaughter, Isaac Slaughter, Meghan Slaughter, Emily Slaughter, Ellis Slaughter, and Calvin Slaughter; great-great-grandchildren, Grant Slaughter and Lillian Slaughter; and brother, Jim (Ann) Slaughter, Warren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers, Earnest and Dick Slaughter.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Zachary Manton officiating. Burial will follow at Converse Cemetery.
