Harold Coan

Harold Eugene Coan, 63, Fairmount, died at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was born in Lake County, IL, to Richard E. and Marjorie E. (Stinson) Coan. Harold married Rita Small on January 21, 1983, and she survives.

Harold was a graduate of Marion High School. He was a Parts Specialist at O’Reilly Auto Parts, and he previously worked at Advance Auto Works.

One of Harold’s favorite hobbies was spending time in his woodworking shop. He was a huge fan of the Beatles, and he dearly loved his grandchildren and his dog, Hey Jude.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include daughters, Jennifer (Donald) Love, Jeannie (Mark) Miller, and Maggie Hahn, all from Fairmount, Windy Williams, Chillicothe, OH, and Jama Coan, Gas City; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marshelle Meador, Jonesboro, and Anna (Bob) Anderson, Gas City; brother, Richard (Dianne) Coan, Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his father, Richard E. Coan; brother-in-law, Lawrence Meador; and best friend, Thomas “Jim” Himes, Jr.

The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 325 E. N. A St., Gas City, IN. Services will begin at 12 noon with Father Weisenberger officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Estates of Serenity, Marion.
