Guadalupe “Lupe” Franco Garcia, 80, died in Marion General Hospital at 9:23 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017. Lupe was born in Frontiera, La Cuchiula, Mexico, to Zachary and Paula (Franco) Garcia. He moved to the U.S. in 1958 and married Aurora Yanis on September 19, 1959. They shared 47 years together until she passed away on July 1, 2008.

Lupe worked in production at Marion’s GM and retired in 1999 after 26 years of service. He had previously worked at Dana, Malleable, and Rod’s ParaNight in Marion. Lupe was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church for several years.

Lupe was a very hard worker his entire life and became a skilled carpenter. He enjoyed fixing up things and building a beautiful home for his family. In his leisure time, Lupe liked to go fishing. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his children, Robert J. (Angelina) Garcia, Michael G. (Kathy) Garcia, Sylvia (Kathy Niverson) Garcia, Michelle R. (Dennis Goins) Guillen, all from Marion; grandchildren, Cassandra, Samantha, Danielle, Michael (Erika), Brittany, Zachary, Christian, Monica, Alicia, and Cecielia; 3 great-grandchildren, Damian, Aurora, and Isabelle; brother, Angel Garcia; and sisters, Zapopan Kortara and Rosalva Lopez.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Garcia, and brother, Robert Garcia.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Lupe’s life will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
