On Sunday, April 10, 2016 Gladys Pearl Weisenberger, 85, surrounded by some of her many family members, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where her faith became sight.  She was born on July 1, 1930, in Peru, Indiana, to Clarence and Helen (Dutton) Fitzgerald.  Her greatest passion was serving the Lord, raising her 5 children, and volunteering in many different areas.

Gladys was a long time member of the Peru First Church of the Nazarene.  She was one of the first women to serve in the WAC (Women’s Army Corps) where she served as a clerk typist from 1948 –  1950.  She retired from Gen Corp. Automotive in 2000.

Gladys is survived by her 5 children: John W. Coleman of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Steven A. Coleman and his wife Suzanne of Panama City Beach, FL. David S. Coleman of Midwest City, OK. Teresa A Hullinger and her husband Robert of Lafayette, IN. Jeffery B. Coleman and his wife Anginette of Peru, IN.  She also had 2 step-children Lynn Montgomery and her husband Garrnet of Jeffersonville, IN, and Peggy Weisenberger of Jeffersonville, IN.  She had 13 grandchildren: Beth Ann Crye and her husband Bill, Rebecca Boonrin, Eric Hanisee, Jessica Hullinger, Bradley Coleman, Nichalos Coleman, Matthew Coleman, Alicia Maggart and her husband Brian, Ashleigh McDaniel,  Austen McDaniel, Arek McDaniel, Jonathon Disbro, and Brittney Disbro.  She also had 8 great grandchildren: Amanda, Roark, Georgia, Nathaniel, Rocky Andrew, Bryce, Veda, Rylee.  She is also survived by her brother-in-law (Gerald Hopkins), many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband, John Weisenberger, parents, 2 sisters (Katherine Arwood, Marie Hopkins), 1 brother (John Fitzgerald), and 1 daughter-in-law (Anna M. Coleman).

Viewing will be at the Peru First Church of the Nazarene located at 331 W. 6th St. on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 4pm – 7pm.  Funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10am, with visitation at 9am.  Graveside service will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Peru First Church of the Nazarene.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.  Family and friends may sign the only guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
