Gladys (Bradley) Arnett, 84, Marion, met her Lord and Savior at 8:08 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017. She was born in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Ora and Ethel (Rice) Bradley. She married Harold D. Arnett on October 30, 1948, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2015.

Gladys was a cook in the dietetics department at the VA Hospital in Marion and previously worked at the sewing factory in Olive Hill, Kentucky. She was a member of Jalapa Road Freewill Baptist Church.

Gladys was also a homemaker and devoted her life to taking care of her family and caring for her son, Larry. She could teach herself to do about anything and made many of her children’s clothes from her own pattern. Most of the crocheted items she made were given to friends and family members, and she made quilts as well. Gladys also took cake decorating classes and had made a three-tier wedding cake at one time. Together, she and her husband reupholstered and refinished furniture. In her leisure time, Gladys loved to read and spend time with the Lord.

She is survived by her children, Nicky (Starlena) Arnett, Fairmount, Tonya (Bob) Roth, Marion, and Diana (George Long) Chaplin, Marion; grandchildren, Tony (Cheryl) Arnett, Greentown, Rusty (Matt) Rayburn, Lafayette, Derek Timmons, Marion, Giovanna (Joe Long) Myers, Edinburgh, Holly (Ben) Schroeder, Charleston, South Carolina, Nicholas (Heather Lamb) Arnett, Kokomo, and Charlene Chaplin, Marion; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Phillip (Catherine) Bradley, Olive Hill, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Maxine Douglas, Olive Hill, Emogene Kilgore, Olive Hill, Mayme Stanley, Mansfield, Ohio, and Carol Hunter, Mansfield, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Arnett, and siblings, John Wesley, Vernon, and Clyde Bradley, Velma Tackett, and Audrey Fultz.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
