Geraldine L. Jones, 78, Converse, died at 12:57 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne. She was born in Wabash, Indiana to the late Burvia and Lona (Nelson) Lawson. She married Ronald Jones on May 1, 1966. He survives.
Gerrie was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Somerset High School. After high school, Gerrie went to beauty school and was a cosmetologist for 25 years. She attended the Converse United Methodist Church. Gerrie enjoyed scrapbooking, flower gardening and played both the piano and accordion. She was a great cook and the best pie maker ever.
In addition to her husband, Gerrie is survived by a son, Gary Jones, Ft. Wayne; daughter, Lisa (Ty) Thomas, Larwill; brother, Burvia (Donna) Lawson, Jr., Wabash; sister, Clara Lou (Max) Martin, Wabash. She is also survived by grandchildren, Dain, Zach, Spencer, Tyler, Tanner and Trent; and a great granddaughter, Daina.
Gerrie was preceded in death by her parents, Burvia and Lona Lawson; two sons, Les and Brian; step-son, Joe; and step-grandson, Tony; Sister and Brother-In-Law, Norma Jean and Jim Larimore.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. immediately following visitation. Burial will be in the Converse Cemetery.
