Georgina G. Laymon, 89, Warren, died Sunday, (April 24, 2016) at her home.
Mrs. Laymon was born September 23, 1926 in Grant County, a daughter of Robert C. Sr. and Bernice Good Hemmick. She married Bruce E. Laymon in 1948. Her husband died on January 16, 1980.
She was a 1944 graduate of Van Buren High School, attended Wayne University and earned a beautician’s license in 1945.
After raising a family she worked for the Huntington County Community School Corporation as a playground supervisor and reading tutor for 17 years. Mrs. Laymon also helped out with the family business (Warren Tribune) for many years gathering news, offering support, etc.
She was a member of the Warren Methodist Church and a 50 year plus member of the Warren Tri Kappa, and a 50 year plus member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a 50 year plus member of the Warren Chautauqua Club.
Survivors include sons: Terrance E. Laymon (Cynthia), Phoenix, AZ, and David B. Laymon (Gretchen), Franklinton, NC; a daughter: Mrs. Patrick (Susan) A. Vance, Goshen; son: Mark E. Laymon, Warren, 2 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother Robert C. Hemmick, Jr. on June 23, 1992.
Arrangements will be handled by the Glancy Funeral Homes-H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30 with calling hours starting at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Paul Burris & Rev. Howard Cress will be officiating the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Warren Solid Rock United Methodist Church PO Box 322 Warren, IN 46792. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.
