Georgeanna (Myers) Cates, age 89, went to be with Jesus at 6:55 am on Dec. 25, 2016, in Marion, IN. Georgeanna lived in Grant County all her life and was a dedicated farm wife and loving mother and grandmother, who always had cookies ready to serve for whoever stopped in. She was born August 23, 1927, to the late Cary and Velma (Stevens) Myers. Georgeanna is survived by her husband, Lester Cates, whom she married on October 31, 1948. Lester and Georgeanna celebrated 68 years together in October 2016. She was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Franklin Twp. Home Economic Club, a 4-H leader, and a member of the Grant Co. Farm Bureau and the Advanced Agriculture Farm Club, Franklin Twp. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and her church family.

Georgeanna is also survived by her son Wendell (Bonnie) Cates, Marion, IN, and three daughters, Donna (Greg) Kingseed, Greentown, IN, Christine (Rick) Sheeks, Noblesville, IN, and Jan (Glenn) Mann, Marion, IN. She is also survived by two sisters, Gladys Hall, Indianapolis, Carolyn (Bill) Hutchens, Marion, IN, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Myers.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Jamie (Adam) Westgate, Jody (Patric} Dunham, Kevin (Jamie) Cates, Doug (Whitney) Kingseed, Bethany (Kent) Gremel, Leslie Kingseed, Kelsey (Blake) Blysma, Brandon Tinkel, Brent (Stephanie) Tinkel, Brad (Shea) Tinkel, and Brittany Tinkel, Carmen (Chris) Lynch, and David Mann, and 24 great grandchildren.

Georgeanna was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Cates, her parents Cary and Velma (Stevens) Myers, one brother, Phil Myers, her twin sister Maryhanna (Herman) Hosier, and 2 sisters, Eldonna (Jim) Bowden, and Dorothy Myers.

Arrangements are being handled by College Park Chapel, Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marion, IN. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, 2015 North 300 West, Marion, IN 46952, with Pastor Robert Barton officiating. Friends may also call one hour preceding the funeral service. Interment will be at Grant Memorial Park, Marion, IN.
