Gary L. Burkhart, 72 of Huntington passed away at 3:30 pm on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Specialty Hospital in Fort Wayne. Gary was a 1963 graduate of Clear Creek High School. He worked on a line crew for PSI/Cinergy for 36 ½ years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Clear Creek Church as well as American Legion Pots #7 and IBEW #1393. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and riding his motorcycle.
Gary was born on November 30, 1943 in Huntington, the son of Willard E. and Vera C. (Walker) Burkhart.
He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Eckert on August 10, 1968 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife: Beverly Burkhart of Huntington; three sons: Scott A. Burkhart of Huntington; Shane M. (Bridgett) Burkhart of Huntington; Steven L. (Aloha) Burkhart of Normal, ILL; a brother: Kenny (Mary Lou) Burkhart of Huntington and four grandchildren: Kaitlyn Burkhart, Conner Burkhart, Angela Burkhart and Samantha Burkhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Linda Mosher.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Clear Creek Church, 750 N. Clear Creek Road, Huntington, Indiana.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Clear Creek Cemetery.
