Garland “Ray” Bright, Jr.

Garland “Ray” Bright, Jr., 60, Swayzee, passed away in Marion General Hospital at 12:12 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017.  He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on July 6, 1957, to Garland and Alice (Patterson) Bright, Sr..  He married Darla Rish on August 21, 1989, and she survives.

A graduate of Taylor High School (Kokomo) in 1976, Ray worked at Chrysler as a tool setter until his retirement.  He served with the Indian Heights Fire Department and Ambulance crew in Kokomo, as well as with the Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department.

Ray enjoyed bowling, mushroom and deer hunting, in addition to watching TV, football, and movies.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Darla; his mother, Alice Bright; four children, Travis (Shawnel) Rish, Amanda Bright, Andrew Bright, and Megan (Brandon Durben) Bright; five grandchildren, Travis II, Sierra, Layla, Skylee, and Juniper; brother, Leonard (Judy) Barber; and sister, Heidi (David) Robinson.

Preceding him in death were his father, Garland Bright, Sr.; brother, John Bright; and father-in-law, Donald Rish.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, with Pastor Shawnda Dykhoff officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
