Fredric “Fred” L. Hatfield, Sr.

Fredric “Fred” L. Hatfield, Sr., 74, Marion, died at 2:01 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Colonial Oaks Health Care and Rehab, Marion. He was born in Sims, Indiana, to the late Claude and Arabella Hatfield. Fred married Claudia Ludwig in 2001, and she survives.

Fred was a salvage worker for 43 years with GM until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and gardening. He also liked watching John Wayne movies.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia; 4 sons, Roy Hatfield, New Castle, Eric (Becky) Hatfield, Alexandria, Claude (Betsy) Hatfield, Crane, and Donald (Cay) Hatfield, Van Buren; 11 grandchildren, Amanda, Claude, Jr., Melissa, Elizabeth, Daniel, Ashley, Jessica, Amanda, Adam, Amber, and James; 13 great-grandchildren, Jama, Cheyenne, Lexi, Jaxon, Olivia, Ryan, Sierra, Coleena, Kora, Kiara, Izabella, Ava-Lynn, and Mason; 2 brothers, Jerry “Butch” (Nila) Hatfield and Marion Ellis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Also preceding him in death were a son, Fredric L. Hatfield, Jr., and siblings, Fred Ellis and Susabell.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN 46986.

Services for Fred will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
