Franklin “Allen” Horine, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion, Indiana. Allen was born on August 29, 1936 to the late Everett and Mary (Todd) Horine in Marion, Indiana. He graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School in 1955, which later became known as Elwood High School. Allen fell in love with Beverly Street and they were married on September 16, 1955 in Rigdon, Indiana. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Allen worked as an Owner Operator and Dispatcher for many years and was very passionate about his occupation. Allen was an Army veteran and served overseas in Korea during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the United Methodist Church since he was a child. Allen also served as a Republican party precinct committeeman.

Allen loved his children and grandchildren and was very proud of each of them. He also was extremely fond of his calico cats. He was a CB radio enthusiast, building and repairing his own. He was extremely electronically and mechanically inclined. Allen enjoyed Nascar for many years and even attended the first Brickyard 400. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. He was a strong-willed Godly man whom tried to set a great example for his family.

Allen is survived by his wife, Beverly, Fairmount, Indiana; son, James Allen (Melody) Horine, Marion, Indiana; daughter, Beth Angela (Scott) Smay, Fairmount, Indiana; four grandchildren, Katie Horine, Rebecca (Richard) Sandy, Emily Leavitt, and Jennifer (Dr. Jonathan) Goodwin; four great-grandchildren, Emilee, Kylie, Kelsey, and Drexel; three sisters, Jeanette (Kermit) Coffin, Marion, Indiana, Phyllis (Joe) Seward, Fowlerton, Indiana, and Marilyn Thatcher, Cicero, Indiana; and one brother, John (Glenda) Horine, Upland, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Randall Horine, and daughter, Lesa Ann Lawson.

Arrangements for Allen have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana. A graveside service for Allen will be held on Friday, August 5, at 5:00 pm at Knox Chapel Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana, with pastor Lloyd Hall officiating.
