Frances M. Darland, 95 of Huntington passed away at 8:58 am on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Frances was a 1938 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. She worked for 23 years at Triad-Utrad/Magnetek in Huntington, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Etna Avenue Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed camping and RVing.
Frances was born on July 19, 1920 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the daughter of Clifford and Odessa (Tinder) Mikels.
She was united in marriage to Martin “Vance” Darland on August 1, 1938 in Austin, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2013.
Survivors include a son: James “Jim” (Cladella) Darland of Fort Wayne; two daughters: Linda (Gary) Alexander of Upland, Nancy (Gene) Vickery of Warren; two brothers: George Mikels of Florida; Raymond (Mary) Mikels of Crawfordsville; two sisters: Catherine Truax and Jane Gleason both of Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Donald Mikels.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Tom Bradley officiating.
Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.
