Former Chief Deputy of the Grant County Treasurer’s Office Arrested on February 21

WABASH, Ind. – On February 21s, 2017 former Chief Deputy of the Grant County Treasurer’s Office Peggy Dickerson age 54 from Fairmount Indiana was arrested on a warrant for One county of Corrupt Business Influence, a Level 5 Felony, and Five counts of Theft, a Level 6 Felony. Mr.s Dickerson was booked into the Grant County Jail on those charges.

This investigation began in November of 2015 when Grant County Treasurer Sarah Melford notified the Grant County Sheriff’s Office that her office has just noticed suspicious transactions to several different tax records. It was determined that the Grant County Treasurers Office could account for over $13,000.00 missing. The suspicious transactions were noticed shortly after Mrs. Dickerson resigned from her position from the Treasurer’s Office. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office conducted a three month investigation with the assistance of the State Board of Accounts and the Treasurers Office. The findings in the case were submitted to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office where the above listed charges were filed.

In the investigation it was determined that the Thefts occurred through the years of 2015 and 2016.
