Findley Christie

Findley R. Christie, Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, Marion.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 6, 1920, the son of the late Claude and Edith (McKenzie Christie.

Known by most as “Chris,” he was a longtime resident of Marion and Sweetser, vice president of Marion Paper Box Company, a regionally known duck carver, and a member of First United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, nature, and spending time with family.  He was involved with Soap Box Derby for several years as well.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Larry) Mealy, Hartford City, and Judy (Mrs. Bill) Snyder, Fremont; four sons, Jim (Deidra), Honea Path, SC, Mike, Columbia City, Tom (Carmen), Waverly, IA, and Mark (Kerry), Marion; one sister Elda Nickoli, North Ridgeville, OH; loving friend Louise Webb; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Mildred (Siebold) Christie; parents, Claude and Edith (McKenzie) Christie; brother, Lloyd Christie; daughter-in-law, Terri Christie; and great-granddaughter, Kailey DenHartog.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana.

Friends and family may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 and one hour prior to the funeral services on Saturday, June 3 in the funeral home.
