WABASH, Ind. – On February 11, 2017, Wabash Police investigated a personal injury crash located on St Rd 15 just north of US 24. Wabash Police allege that Katie L. Owens, 36, Wabash was exiting the shopping center and collided with a northbound motorcycle driven by Seth M. Zahalka, 18, Somerset. Zahalka was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne for his injuries. On February 20, 2017, at 4:01 a.m. Zahalka succumbed to his injuries. The Allen County Coroner’s office released the cause of death as a respiratory failure caused by fatty pulmonary embolism as a result of blunt force trauma. Again, the Wabash City Police are continuing their investigation with toxicology reports for the drivers. Once toxicology reports are completed paperwork will be forwarded to the Wabash County Prosecutor’s office.
