Ernest “Jay” Mattox, 47, of Schaumburg, Illinois, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born August 2, 1970 in Peru, Indiana to Jack and Marianne (Behrens) Mattox.
Jay received a Bachelor’s degree from IUPUI in cytotechnology. He worked for Quest Diagnostics in Schaumburg as a cytotechnologist. Jay grew up in Miami County in the Roann area. He was a member of the Catholic church. Jay loved going to state parks, watching the Chicago Cubs, and Purdue Basketball.
He is survived by four brothers and sisters, John Mattox of Mount Sterling, Illinois, Katy (Scott) Herron of Stevensville, Ontario, Canada, Maria (Donald) Rineer of Springboro, Ohio, and Joe Mattox of Huntington, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 207 Cass Street, Wabash, with Father Sextus Don officiating. Burial will be in Paw Paw Cemetery, Miami County. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
