Ernest J. Marroni, Jr.

Ernest J. Marroni, Jr., age 70, passed away on March 14, 2018 at 11:25 a.m.

He served in the U. S. Army from 1967 to 1978.  He was a Vietnam veteran with the 101st Airborne during the Tet Offensive. He retired in 2000 as Chief of Police at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System.

He was a member of Light City Mopars and life member of American Huey 369 Organization.

He is survived by wife of nearly 46 years, Deborah (Shiner) Marroni; children, Richard (Aimee) Marroni, Marion; Joseph (Lerin) Marroni, Magnolia, Texas; and Melissa (Neil) Brown, Marion; grandchildren, Kirsten Brown, Isabella Marroni, Ava and Krista Marroni; great-grandson, Charles (CJ) Waller. He is also survived be his sister, Deborah (Rick) Polinski, Kingsport, TN; mother-in-law, Helen Shiner, Marion; sister-in-law, Susan (Terry) Fidder, Medway, Ohio and  several nieces and nephews.  He will be forever missed by all that loved and knew him.  He was a beloved husband, father, family man, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest J. Marroni and Mary H. (Tegano) Marroni.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018.  Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Huey 369 Organization, and/or the American Cancer Society.
