Elmo L. Huntley, 89, Amboy, died in his home at 4:35 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was born in Kinderhook, Illinois, to Harland and Rosa Belle (Roots) Huntley. Elmo married his sweetheart, Beatrice Rogers, on January 22, 1960, and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2014.  A 1947 graduate of Kinderhook High School, Elmo enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he worked in the salvage repair division at General Motors for 30 years until his retirement.  Elmo was the kind of man who was always in search of conversation. He loved to listen to the stories of others, and tell his as well. He had a very creative and inventive personality, loved gadgets, and loved to fix things, especially bicycles which were then given to kids. Elmo also enjoyed going camping, camping, camping with his family.  He is survived by his children, Teresa (Patrick) Parnell, Marion, James (Maria) Huntley, Amboy, and Sherry Huntley, Marion, and grandson, Adrian Huntley.  In addition to his parents and loving wife of 54 years, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lorraine and Robert Huntley, and sister, Marjorie Sprague.  The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 1p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. Burial will follow at Thrailkill Cemetery in Swayzee.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O.
