Elma L. ”Shine” Jay, age 98, of Marion, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at Wesleyan Health and Rehabilitation Center, Marion, Indiana.
She was born on October 26, 1917 in Banquo, Indiana the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Snyder) Smethers. Elma married William White on August 23, 1933, and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1963. She then married Everett Jay on May 26, 1966, and he also preceded her in death on February 8, 1993.
She is survived by a sister, Una Smethers; nephew, Raymond Hisey; niece, Judy Branham; nephew, Paul (Catha) Hisey; nephew, Dennis (Kathy) Roberson; and nephew, Larry (Kay) Roberson, all of Marion, Indiana; nieces, Faith (Harold) Burk of Wabash and Shirley Martz; and several great nieces and nephews.
Elma was also preceded in death by sisters, Helen Kirby, Esther Ellyson, and Phyllis Levi; and nieces, Karen Jones and Sondra Fredericks.
Funeral Services will be held at noon, Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Del Garcia officiating.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, January 27, in the funeral home prior to funeral services.
Burial will follow funeral services in Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
