Elizabeth A. “Liz” Goble

Elizabeth A. “Liz” Goble, 85, passed away in her Gas City home on December 24, 2017. She was born on May 1, 1932 to the late Lawrence and Edna Fern Alice (Henderson) Downam.

On May 9, 1949, Liz married the love of her life, Paul E. Goble. He survives. They were the first couple to be married at Southside Wesleyan Church, a church she continued to attend. Liz was a fantastic homemaker and worked part time for Dynamite Building Maintenance. Later she worked for Wesley press and retired in 1993. In her free time she loved making crafts and homemade gifts for family and friends. She was a talented seamstress and made many things including wedding gowns, prom dresses, band uniforms and Barbie clothes. More than anything Liz loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Liz is survived by her children, Paula Sue (Darnell) King, Marion; Pamela R. (Donald) Nash, Gas City; Diana L. Dile, Gas City; Kevin E. (Jeanne) Goble, Fairmount; Elizabeth “Kay” (Ron) Martin, Gas City; DELETE Paula Goble Gas City; adopted daughter, Becky (Rick) Henderson, Gas City; brothers, William “Bill” (Garnet) Downam, Sweetser; Larry (Cheryl) Downam, Jonesboro; Joe (Debbie) Downam, Jonesboro; sisters, Mary (Ron) Stivers, Marion; Wanda Nelson, Marion; Thelma (Jim) Sheets, Florida; Linda Owens, Marion; Shirley Kale, Ohio; Sue Levensky, Amboy; twenty-five grandchildren; a great big bunch of great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Liz is also preceded in death by her son, P. Douglas “Doug” Goble; brother, Donald Downam.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Southside Wesleyan Church, 312 East South “E” Street, Gas City, Indiana with Pastor Mark Atkinson and Pastor Brent Miller officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City, Indiana. Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the church and December 30, 2017 from 10-11 am. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana, was entrusted with making arrangements.
