Eleven Mile Pursuit Ends in Drug Arrest

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Monday, July 24, 2017, around 9:28pm, while working Operation Pull Over North Manchester Police Officer Parker Stouffer attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Norwood Drive and SR 13 North. The driver of the ’97 Chevrolet Blazer, Jeffery J. Moriarity, 38, Fort Wayne started fleeing from police. Officer Stouffer along with Officers Isaac Adams and Devin Bechtold attempted to stop Moriarity. Along SR 114 officer observed Moriarity throwing articles out of the vehicle. The pursuit ended when Moriarity tried to evade officers by stopping his vehicle on SR15 in the area of Waldo Golf Course, putting the vehicle in reverse and driving into a field. Moriarity then fled on foot. Wabash County Sheriff’s Department Officer Corbin Dawes was called for K9 assistance. Moriarity was soon located. He was taken to Wabash Parkview for a blood draw. He was booked into the Wabash County Jail for reckless driving, habitual traffic offender, resisting law enforcement, possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. Depending on the results of the blood draw further charges of Operating while intoxicated are pending. Also assisting in the investigation were Chief Jim Kirk, Sgt. Greg Tomlinson, Sgt. Nate Birch and K9 Officer Strider, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
