Eleanor Stewart Peggy January 24, 1922 – May 16, 2017

Eleanor “Peggy” Stewart, 95, of rural Somerset, Indiana, died at 4:33 am, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. She was born January 24, 1922 in Amboy, Indiana. Peggy was a 1940 graduate of Amboy High School. She first married William Frank in Somerset, Indiana, on November 20, 1941; he died January 12, 1984. She then married Perry Eugene “Gene” Stewart in Somerset on January 17, 1987. She worked 16 years as the secretary to the director of nursing, at Wabash County Hospital. Peggy was a member of the Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Somerset, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Peggy and Gene wintered in Florida and Texas for over 20 years. Peggy loved to read and work in her flower garden. Her greatest pleasures were the simple things in life; coffee with friends and neighbors, celebrations with her family, a slice of warm rhubarb pie and the delight of a big buttery bowl of popcorn. Peggy enjoyed her church family and the many potluck gatherings in the Somerset church basement. She instilled in her children the joy of laughter, the importance of family, and the fellowship of friends. Her family will miss her kindness, her gentle sweet nature, and her radiant smile. She is survived by her husband, Perry Eugene “Gene” Stewart of Somerset; four children Son, William “Wes” (Linda) Frank of Amboy, Indiana, Timothy (Karen) Frank of Monticello, Indiana, Sue (Jack Hertz) Frank of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dr. Dawn (David Schneider) Frank of Delphi, Indiana; two step-daughters, Jeanette Ballentine of Arvada, Colorado, and Susan (Tom) Floor of Roann, Indiana; two grandsons, Adam (Laura) Frank of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Anthony Frank of Amboy, Indiana; three step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Brodt, four sisters Mary Born: January 24, 1922 Place of Birth: Amboy, IN Death: May 16, 2017 Place of Death: Lafayette, IN Fauber, Nancy Kimmel, Jonita Whirl, and Marilyn Watson, and her step-son Larry Stewart. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 22, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Gretchen Schneider and Rev. Ted Batson officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call 2-4pm Sunday, at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
