Edwin C. Bair, 94 of Huntington passed away at 8:05 am on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice in Fort Wayne. Edwin attended Union High School. He served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater where he fought his way through the Aleutian Islands. He received a Purple Heart during the fighting of the battle at Attu. He worked as a tool & die maker for 42 years, retiring from Huntington Tool & Die in 1987. He was a member of The Church of God. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, take walks and hunt. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, he also enjoyed nature and traveling.

Edwin was born on March 30, 1921 in Fort Wayne, the son of Edward and Laura (Decker) Bair.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Steward on August 7, 1948; they were married for 67 wonderful years.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Bair of Huntington; a son: Tom (Teri) Bair of Missouri City, TX; a daughter: Dawn (Randy) Jones of Warren; four grandchildren: Izzie Bair of Missouri City, TX; Kirby Jones of Warren; Madison Jones of Warren and Angus Jones of Warren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Viola Whitenack, Emma Hillegas, Clara Mabel Hacker and two brothers: Harry Bair and Irvin Bair.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1: 00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:30 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Gus Hacker officiating.

Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
