Edith Elizabeth Carter, 83, Gas City, died at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, in Marion General Hospital. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Grant County in 1956 where she lived the rest of her life. She married Edgar J. Carter on August 20, 1956, and he survives.

Edith retired from RCA, picture tube division, in 1989 after 27 years of service. She loved and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a very important part of her life. Edith enjoyed going on car rides, especially in her convertible, and she liked listening to country music.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edgar; children, Eddie (Gayle) Carter, Houston, Texas, Lynn (Ted) Carter Gosser, Fairmount, Connie (Roger) McPherson, Gas City, and Bonnie (Jim) Carter Justice, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; grandchildren, Justin P. (Lana) Carter, Sarah (Adam) Kellam, Kristin (Dave) Baranack-Tutrone, Derek Thompson, Kalie (Billy) Jones, Emily (Taylor) Ivy, John Paul (Ashley) McPherson, Patrick (Karli) McPherson, and Cole (Abra) Justice; great-grandchildren, Reese, Blake, Aiden, Gray, Carter, Serena, Ray, Merrick, Remy, Layla, Jude, Adalynn, Elijah, Beckham, Briggs, and one on the way; and close friend, Mary Futrell.

Her brother, John DeMeyer, preceded her in death.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Services to celebrate Edith’s life are at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Todd Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
