Earl M. Snyder (aka Speed) 84, a lifelong resident of Peru died December 31, 2016 at 1:25 PM at Dukes Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

Earl was born in Peru March 31st, 1932 to Donald E. and Opal F. (Cattin) Snyder who both preceded him in death.  Earl graduated from Peru High School in 1950. Earl worked for the Miami County Highway department as the “sign man” he retired in 2000.

Earl had a lot of hobbies throughout his life, including being a motorcycle enthusiast who attended races on Daytona Beach several times.  Earl also travelled regularly to Springfield IL and Lima Oh to watch the AMA flat track races.   Earl was also a coin and camera collector, in the 1950’s Earl was a member of the Lens Club, Miami County’s camera club.  Earl also loved to travel and he liked to hunt deer in Wyoming with his Dad and sisters.

The oldest child of Don and Opal , Earl is survived by his brother Dennis E. Snyder of Peru, sisters Shirley Snyder Jackson WY, Carol (Jack) Kearney Driftwood TX, Lynn Garrison Idaho Falls ID, and Nadine (Ron) Kelly Greentown IN & San Tan Valley AZ.  Several Nieces and Nephews:  Tom (Jackie) Kearney Odenton MD, Mark (Elsa) Kearney Austin TX, Victoria (Joe) Downs FT Wayne IN, Claudia Aster Tucson AZ, David Harrison Kokomo IN, Janel Garrison Alamogordo NM, Alyson (John) Shoemaker Logansport IN, Brian (Elaine) Garrison Idaho Falls ID.  Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews and lots of cousins.

Earl will be missed dearly by his family, always a sweet gentle soul who never raised his voice to anyone.  Earl always had M&M’s or Hershey bars for his nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held later in 2017 to honor Earl when the family is able to gather together.
