Earl D. Harrell, age 93, of Marion, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Earl was born December 13, 1923 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late Pearl and Ercie (Dillon) Harrell.  He was an Army Air Corp veteran serving during WWII.  He was a top turret gunner and flight engineer on the Anita Marie B-17 bomber and flew 30 missions over Germany.  He married Marivonne Sanders on March 1, 1946, and she preceded him in death on December 30, 2015.

He worked in tool and die at General Motors in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Marion until his retirement after 20 plus years.  He was also a mail carrier in Marion for 11 years.

Earl was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, the U.A.W., and the General Motors Sympathy Club.  He enjoyed fast pitch softball and loved to golf.  He had a total seven holes-in-one in his lifetime and was also a member of the Etna Acres Golf Club.   Earl also loved to paint and had just completed his 12th painting.

He is survived by a son, Timothy Harrell (Barbara) of Mattawan, Michigan; two daughters, Anita Smith (Daryl) of Somerset, Indiana and Cindy Brabon (Bruce)  of Mattawan, Michigan; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Tedder and Doris Mills; and special uncle, Raymond Dillon.

Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 in the funeral home with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow funeral services in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
