Dr. Max E. Wilson, 89 of Warren and formerly of Markle and Bluffton, passed away on Thursday evening July 7, 2016 at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Dr. Max was a Chiropractor in Bluffton from 1952 to 1977 and also practiced in Artesia, New Mexico from 1977 to 1995. Max was a 1945 graduate of East Union High School in Wells County and a 1952 graduate of the O’Neill Chiropractic College. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving overseas during the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ, past Elder of the 1st Church of Christ in Bluffton and past Elder of the Valley Christian Church in Artesia, NM. He taught Sunday school over the years and was a Trustee for the Artesia Christian College from 1977 to 1986. He was a former member of the International Chiropractors Association and the International Chiropractors Association of Indiana, and was a former member of the Lions Clubs of Bluffton and Artesia, NM and a member of the Markle VFW. Max enjoyed working with stained glass, and he went on three expeditions to Mt. Ararat in 1981 to 1983 in search of Noah’s Ark. In later years he and his wife Jeanne entertained for four years at the former Bear Creek Farms.

Max was born on February 18, 1927 in Wells County, a son of Charles A. and Margaret R. (Hatfield) Wilson.

He was united in Marriage to Babe Latheta Eichhorn on May 20, 1951; she preceded him in death on May 4, 1995. He later married Jeanne Roe on December 23, 1995. His wife survives.

Additional Survivors include – Three sons: Jonathan Wilson of Artesia, NM; Jacob (Rebekah) Wilson of Mt. Pulaski, IL and Dr. Jeffrey Wilson of Cabo Roja, Puerto Rico. A daughter: Dr. Jennifer (Dr. Robert) Wilkin of Huntington. Two stepsons: Barry (Missy) Grant of Warren and Kevin (Maryalice) Grant of Ossian. One sister: Nancy (Gerald) Johnson of Bluffton. Nine Grandchildren: Victoria Wilson, Suzy Wilson Adams, Jonathan Wilson, Izaak Wilson, Rachel Wilson Bellows, Michael Grant, Amy NezBagay, Mindy Arnold and Holly Hart, and Sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters: Janet Cooper, Magdaline Crum, Betty Blew, Phyllis Confer and Agnes Baker. Four brothers: Robert Wilson, Dick Wilson, Everett Wilson and Philip Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle, IN.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, with Gerald O. Moreland officiating. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to services at the Church on Tuesday.

Interment will take place at a later date at the Prospect Cemetery of rural Uniondale.

Max supported missions with his life. In lieu of flowers that fade, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to David and Sheri DeBolt, one of his favorite ministries in the mission field of Mexico.
