Dr. Dennis W. Fox, 71, formerly of Upland, died Wednesday afternoon at Bethlehem Woods, Ft. Wayne, following an extended illness.

He was born in Muncie, the son of the late Wade and Helen (Crow) Fox.

He married Judy (Walters) on December 19, 1970 in Markleville.

Dennis earned his EdD from Ball state in 1978. He served as the Assistant Principal and the Principal for Mississinewa School Corporation from 1979-1984. In 1984, he served as the Superintendent for Union School Corporation and in 1985 he became the Superintendent of Eastern Hancock School System. Judy and he moved to Upland in 1993, where he became the Superintendent of Eastbrook Community Schools, until retiring in 2004, due to medical disability. Their three sons all graduated from Eastbrook High School during their father’s tenure.

In his spare time, Dr. Fox enjoyed reading, going for drives, shooting squirrels, farming with his brother-in-law, and attending Eastbrook sporting events.

Survivors include three sons, Brandon (Jessica) Fox, Upland, Brennon (Fianceé: Talishia Butler) Fox, Indianapolis, Brett (Kayla) Fox, Ft. Wayne; a half-brother, Larry Fox, Panama City Beach, Florida; a sister Donna Gross, Wolcottville; a sister-in-law, Joan Snodgress, Fishers; five grandchildren, Makayla Fox, Zoë Fox, Levi Fox, Caroline Fox, and Athena Butler.

His wife, Judy, preceded him in death on March 4, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastbrook Athletic and Band Boosters, 560 S. 900 E., Marion, Indiana, 46953.
