Douglas W. Compo, age 73 of Summitville, Indiana died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis after a year long battle with cancer.

Doug was born on September 21, 1942 in Marion, Indiana to the late Ora and Mable (Walton) Compo. He was a 1959 graduate of Marion High School, and immediately enlisted in the Navy serving on the USS Galveston and the USS Peterson. Doug married Brenda Scott on December 5, 1965 and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a six week trip to Alaska. After 30 years Doug retired from Delco Remy in Anderson where he had worked in production. Doug was an active member of the Fairmount Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. He was a past Master of the Alexandra Masonic Lodge #235, and a member of the Centerville, TN Lodge #618, and the Ft. Wayne Valley of Scottish Rite. A bee keeper for many years,  Doug was a member of the Indiana Bee Keepers Association and enjoyed sharing his honey with many people every year. Doug had many other interests and hobbies including being an avid hunter of deer, turkey and elk as well as fishing. He loved woodworking and making things for his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Brenda, three daughters Rhonda (Jack) Titus, Pendleton, IN; Rachelle (John Jr) Cloud, Medina, Ohio; Raean (Dr. Mark) Rosenthall, Yorktown, IN.

Grandchildren: Abby (Drew) Tower, Gus Titus, John Cloud III, Olivia Cloud, Abe, Isabella, Anna, and Jake Rosenthall.

Sisters: Estella Walker, Claypool, IN; Roberta Wood, and Linda (Don) Brown, Marin, IN. Brothers: Forrest (Joan) Compo, Marion, IN, and Milford (Virginia) Compo, Jonesboro, IN. and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Noah Compo; and granddaughter, Emma Ruthanna Titus.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremations Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where the family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 2-6 PM with a Masonic Service at 6 PM. Funeral service is on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 10 AM at the the Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry DeHart and Paster Gary McCaslin officiating. Graveside service with Military Rites and burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmount Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
